My Stash (Most of it, anyway.)

When I taught my beginning quilting class Tuesday, I told my students about my stash. How Real Quilters don't buy fabric for each individual quilt. How Real Quilters buy fabric here, there, and everywhere, whenever they see fabric they like. How Real Quilters always have a stash of fabric, ready to cut up and play with at a moments notice. (Students, do you now see why I don't pre-wash my fabric?)

Mine is primarily sorted by color, though I do have a category for dots and one for doggy fabric. I also have a Christmas fabric category.

I'm having a bit of a problem though. The fabrics I've bought in the last year or so are more contemporary in nature. Bold patterns, modern colors, etc. I don't want to sort them by color into these drawers. (IF I even had room in said drawers!) For now, my studio coffee table has become their home, where I can ogle and drool over them constantly. But I know they need a better home. I'll have to think on it.
My usual summer tomato sandwich has morphed into this. Whole wheat tortilla. Hummus. String cheese. One chopped tomato.
With Publix cheddar rice cakes. Note to self: go to Publix tomorrow to buy more hummus and rice cakes.

I'm interested to read about the sorting solution you come up with. I have the exact same problem. At the moment I have my "modern prints" in their own bin. I had to combine my brown and yellow fabrics though to empty a bin for the moderns.

I love your fabric bins. And that tomato sandwich looks so good it has made me hungry.

I just have to ask, where did you get your storage drawers that you are using for your fabric?
I love them!
